New Event Center Comes to Federal Way
A spacious lobby with commanding views of Mount Rainier and an outdoor public plaza are highlights of the newest event facility in the Seattle region. Located in the heart of Federal Way, Washington, the Federal Way Performing Arts and Event Center is scheduled to open in August, 2017.
The 41,000 square-foot facility features a 716-seat auditorium with a full performance stage and 6,000 square feet of additional event spaces. Seating for 500 guests in the orchestra section and 200 in the balcony makes the auditorium ideally suited for a presentation or seminar. Two equal-sized event rooms are located adjacent to the auditorium, each with seated capacity of 150.
The event rooms are equipped with accordion walls and can be divided in half for maximum flexibility. The walls of the event spaces open onto the lobby, offering extra space for large gatherings. Utilizing the lobby area, the facility can support a group meeting or banquet for 410. The large auditorium along with flexible event space make the Performing Arts and Event Center ideal for conferences, trade shows, corporate meetings and banquets.
On-site concessions and full-service catering will be provided by a soon-to-be-named outside vendor. “The Center features a full kitchen on-site,” explains Theresa Yvonne, executive director. She adds, “We opted for a full kitchen rather than a small catering kitchen, so the caterer can prepare fresh cuisine on site, rather than simply warming up meals that were prepared elsewhere.”
The Center has the latest audiovisual equipment to support any performance or presentation. Complimentary WiFi is available throughout the facility, and free parking is available. Plans call for a 125-unit hotel next to the Center, and Yvonne expects construction to begin later this year. In the meantime, lodging is available at several major hotels within a few blocks of the facility. The area also has a large variety of restaurants and shopping close by.
Located mid-way between Seattle and Tacoma, Federal Way enjoys a prime western Washington location for meeting planners. It is about 20 minutes from Sea-Tac International Airport and I-5 offers easy automobile access.
