MPI Washington Presents Annual Awards

As the year continues on, so do its annual traditions. The Washington State Chapter of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) recently named their 2016-2017 annual award winners. Founded in 1972, MPI is the largest meeting and events industry association worldwide.

MPI provides members of the meeting and event planning community with networking and education opportunities. These awards are only given out to extraordinary individuals who have demonstrated both a commitment to MPI’s goals as a chapter as well as their engagement and service with and to their communities.

This year’s chapter award winners included Lacey Hein, CMP (Planner of the Year), Jessica Deri (Supplier of the Year), and Katy Radelich, CMP (President’s Award).

Lacey Hein earned the Planner of the Year award because of her outstanding contribution to and participation in the association, the events industry and the community. Her involvement throughout the year as well as her service and long-term leadership to the MPI chapter made her the obvious choice for this award.

Jessica Deri’s efforts throughout this year and the previous ones, plus her innate leadership qualities led MPI Washington to select her for Supplier of the Year. Deri’s peers hold her in high regard because of her work ethic and the quality of person she is.

Awarded by the current MPI Washington State Chapter’s president, the President’s Award was given to Katy Radelich. Radelich’s service to the chapter and support to the president and board of directors, helped establish her as a prominent figure to watch in MPI.

Additional award recipients included Rookie of the Year, Jene Iceberg; Tomorrow’s Leader, Alexis Abruscato; Chair of the Year, Robin Akkerman and Corbin Ball Award winner, Julie Merken, CMP. Tulalip Resort Casino was awarded the Silver Platter based on chapter members’ responses on their evaluations after each monthly program and special event.

MPI exists to support members by offering a variety of educational programs. The organization aims to help members meet their business goals while making their communities a better place.
